Airline industry growing but no profits

20 Sep. 2006
Air trek in India is active but openly this is not translating into profits for the airline activity.

The activity describeed a staggering pasting of Rs 1600 crore for 2006-07. High fuel worths and competitive pricing of vouchers are some of the foremost sources.

High ATF costs are a key fear and then there is intense cost competition. Analysts say the hurried cyst of low-cost airlines is undermineing yields on many domestic roads.

India's emergent losses jump the worldwide trend. The estimated universal airline debit is likely to be $1.7 billion in 2006. A big improvement on the earlier 2006 debit forecast of $3 billion made in June. poorer losses are primarily because of superior efficiency and senior revenues from American and EU carters.

The passenger transfer in India is rising at the tempo of 25-30 per cent per annum but the activity is trailing close to $8-10 per passenger.

The slaughter is likely to last at slightest for the next two existence, after which a robust business would emerge.

The companies that have the fiscal capability to sustain losses during this time and a alert management will come out as winners.
